The charming Gothic Quarter, or Barri Gòtic, has narrow medieval streets filled with trendy bars, clubs and Catalan restaurants. The Museu d'Història de Barcelona shows remains of the Roman city. Artisans sell leather and jewelry near the Cathedral of Barcelona, while flower stalls and street-food vendors line busy avenue La Rambla. The Plaça del Pi, named after the adjacent Gothic church, hosts a weekend art market.
Lively Sagrada Família area is named after Antoni Gaudí’s renowned basilica, with its ornate facade and iconic spires. Crowds fill its interior of columns colored by stained-glass windows, or take photos from the adjoining Plaça de Gaudí park. Nearby Antigua Fàbrica Estrella Damm hosts concerts and art shows in a former brewery. Boutiques and Catalan bistros dot the surrounding streets.
Cobblestone streets of Sant Andreu de Palomar lead to attractions such as the neo-Gothic Church of Sant Andreu de Palomar's frescoes and the Antoni Gaudí-designed mosaic floor at Sant Pacià Church. Carrer Gran de Sant Andreu, the neighborhood's vibrant main street, is a shopping and restaurant hub. The former Fabra i Coats factory, now an arts and cultural center, hosts the annual MIRA digital arts festival.
